Women's bathing suits can be categorized into one-piece and two-piece suits. There are numerous styles, designs and variants for each type. For example, the bikini, a typical two-piece bathing suit for women, can be further classified into the thong, G-string or tankini. One-piece bathing suits, on the other hand, have variants such as the monokini, stringbody, sling bikini, and halter-neck.
Of the two-piece bathing suits, the bikini is the most popular for women, and is worn in most countries in the West. When the bikini came out in 1946, it was considered too revealing and shunned by many cultures including the United States.
However, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the bikini bathing suit suddenly grew in popularity when movies like And God Created Woman and Bikini Beach were released.
The tankini is also a two-piece bathing suit for women, similar to a regular bikini bathing suit, but the top, often referred to as a tank top, extends downward to somewhere between just above the navel and the top of the hips, and is therefore less revealing than a regular bikini top.
The G-string is one of the fastest-selling swimsuit styles among women today. It has its origins in 1970s Brazil and now has many other variants such as the thong, T-back and V-string.
One-piece bathing suits include the monokini, designed by an Austrian named Rudi Gernreich in 1967. It is a one-piece, topless bathing suit for women consisting of only the lower piece of the bikini. Monokini is a variant of the original two-piece bikini bathing suit, and may also be used to refer to other one piece swimsuits such as a sling bikini.
The sling bikini is another very popular swimsuit choice among women.
It has side straps that extend upwards to cover the breasts. The straps then go over the shoulders and reach down the back to form a thong. The entire sides of the torso are revealed this way. So the advantage of a sling bikini lies in its convenience, by combining two elements (the top and the bottom pieces) into one.
Other forms of one-piece bathing suits for women include stringbodys, halter-necks, maillots, tanksuits, plunge fronts and pretzel suits..
Bextra, Vioxx and side effects ? Do you need a lawyer?
The recent withdrawals of the prescription medications Vioxx and Bextra from the marketplace have many people concerned. Studies show that the use of Vioxx could increase the likelihood of strokes and heart attacks; Bextra carries those same risks and also increases the chances of contracting Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a potentially fatal skin disease. Frequently prescribed to minimize the inflammation and pain of arthritis, these prescription drugs belong to a family of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs known as COX-2 inhibitors.COX-2 inhibitors are a relatively recent breakthrough in medicine; they interfere with the COX-2 enzyme, which causes pain and inflammation, without interfering with COX-1, which protects the stomach lining.. Previous anti-inflammatory drugs eased the symptoms, but also interfered with COX-1, leaving many patients suffering from gastric discomfort. While everyone who has been taking either Vioxx or Bextra would be well advised to see their doctor immediately,...

An Introduction to Wet Suits
Wet suits keep you dry. That's what they do. Not in the rain, although if somebody could invent an inexpensive, yet stylish, slip-on rain suit, I'm sure it would sell very well. Wet suits are for people who immerse themselves in cold water under various different circumstances. Designed initially for scuba divers and then popularized by surfers, the wet suit has evolved from a simple layer of protection from the wet and cold into a "system" that warms, protects and aids the swimmer, surfer or deep sea diver that uses them.
Heat moves from a warmer object to the colder object. This is one of the basic laws of physics and you can argue about it until the cows come home and it simply will not change. Knowing is no suit that can prevent the exchange, but the transfer of heat from your body to the water around you can be slowed long enough to allow a diver to enjoy a deep dive for a much longer time by using a wet suit. The amount of time it would take for a diver to...

A Guide to Triathlon Wet Suits
Triathlon wet suits are designed with state-of-the-art materials to help athletes get in and out of the water quickly, efficiently and of course, to keep the wearer warm. Triathlon wet suits are much more than the normal wet suit employed by divers simply to slow heat loss underwater and keep warm. Designed specifically for athletic competition, their first priority is to keep a competitive swimmer on top of the water, reducing drag and stalling muscle fatigue, enabling the swimmer to race faster and for longer periods of time.
Furthermore, the rubber used on the outside of the wet suit is of the slickest and most slippery materials possible to emulate the scales of a fish as closely as possible. The manufacturing technology employed in creating these wet suits has been a bone of contention between athletes and committee members because they reduce the difference between weaker swimmers and stronger swimmers, not only in speed, but also in all-around efficiency.
